Radioactive cats have 18 half-lives

Yesterday was a whole lotta nothing. Susan and I slept in until 8:51am (the latest we have ever slept in in years). Having that late sleep in meant that my chance to sneak a 20 miler in was slim. We headed off to church at 10:25pm. It ended at around 12:15 and then went to Montana's for lunch as we had a grocery deficit. On the way home we stopped off at Superstore and picked the "missing" groceries.

Susan had volunteered her services for the Beethoven's 9th performance at the Church so was a volunteer Barista from 6:30 to 9. During this time the kids and I watched Amazing Race, then we pulled out Kamden's math homework and I had to explain a grade three'er math. It was actually quite hard as for me it is inherent but to teach is a whole different concept. I think I have it down now though where I have a little more patience. I remember the old day's when I was there and my Mom and Dad had to do the same (yes, I actually do remember my problems I had in my grade 3 class with Mrs. Mullaney).

Tonight was Simon's soccer practice while Susan did a 5 mile run. I did my 5.59 miles in 44:00 at lunch today.

Tomorrow has us off to Kamden's dance at 6:45. Wednesday is music lessons and my first 20 miler of the week. Thursday night I have a Board Meeting. Friday I have poker and the kids have bible study. Saturday is my second 20 miler of the week, Susan has a Youth Juice booth to attend to at the +50 show. Sunday has Susan running her last half marathon of the year while I cheer her on. We have lunch together and then get home as Simon has an 8am soccer game which Oma will take him to.

So yeah, another fun week/end.

Monopoly

The kids have been bugging us lately for the new Monopoly game which uses debit cards as currency instead of the ole fashion paper money. So we caved and bought it today so we could have a family game day. We thought it wouldn't be all that fun as it takes a lot of the counting fun away but I think it makes it that much more efficient and quick.

The results are that Simon put the screws to the rest of the family, Mom second, me third with Kamden trailing in last.

I did not make the long run today so I will be finding my 20 miles at 6am tomorrow morning.

Food for thought

Tonight we had "Date night with Dad". Kamden and I went for supper as well as Susan and her Dad to the church. It was Mexican food night so of course I got packed, the most I have eaten in a while. Good thing I did not go to the buffet with the guys for lunch or the day would have been ugly.

I somehow will fit in a 20 mile run this weekend. Simon has soccer tomorrow so it will be fun to see the little boy put on a clinic.

Sunshine Girl Fudge Balls

Nothing new this week. I would rant and rave about N1H1 but I don't need to lose what little friends I have.

Monday night was Simon's soccer practice which went without a hitch. Got the convertible out for getting close to the last blast of the year. I also took it out last night for the schools board meeting. The kids had music lessons which I missed going to as I got jammed at work a little too long. Tomorrow should be a high 17c. The opposite is Susan's race day on the 15th should be a starting temp of -12c.

The last 3 days I have logged in 19.17 miles in 2:40. This morning was 45 minutes of speed work totaling 5.65 miles as follows: 1.5 miles @ 7.2mph, 1 mile @ 8.1mph, 1 mile @ 7mph, .5 miles @ 8.5mph then .5 miles @ 9mph, .3 miles at 7mph then increase .1mph every .1 miles to 45 minutes (finished at 7.6). As you can tell I did it on the treadmill but I went to the gym at lunch for variety away from home. Days of Our Lives wasn't on so it was all too exciting.

Tomorrow night is Survivor night with the kids at home with CSI following. Friday is Dad's night (Kamden and I, Susan and her Dad) at the church for dinner. Saturday or Sunday is a 20 mile run.

Vegas is 4 weeks on Sunday!

NYC Marathon

Congrats to my cousin Todd Oseen who finished his first full marathon in a fine 4:18:05. Congrats to my fell Nathan teammates as well, Benoit Deshayes, Mark Wigmore and Lilian Yamasaki!

Last night we went trick or treating with the kids and they managed to get a little more than last year. Simon hauled in 13 pounds and Kamden got 13.6 pounds compared to the 25 from last year. Just means more for Mom and Dad.
I managed to stay in that Halloween mask for 2.75 hours of walking thrills. I think I may have creeped out a person or two.

Happy Halloween

Today is the day the kids have been counting down forever. Every morning the kids quiz me on the way to school how many days left and I don't even answer anymore as they know the exact day, since the start of the month, how many are left.

The kids participated in their school Jazzercize class from 4-7pm after school. Susan came home and did her long run for the week so I ended up working a little longer at work, just enough time to get home and then leave again to pick up the children. On the way home from work I stopped at Blockbuster to try and pick up some scary movies but the new ones were all gone so I got stuck with a bunch of B horror movies. One more to go tonight when we get home from our hours of walking around the neighborhood.

I ended up taking the entire week off from exercise as I think I just needed some good rest. This morning I felt like a million bucks so I took it easy and did 14.5 miles in 2:08.

Tomorrow we are off to church at 9am, then Simon's soccer at 11 and then home for lunch. The house needs so cleaning so that will also be on the agenda tomorrow.

HINIe

That is my cheesy solution for not having to say H1N1. How sick of you of this, well, I am overloaded with all the media and conversations around. To some it up in a few sentences, Susan and I are not getting the shots and nor are the kids. Susan thinks that the shots they are giving are an injection of RFID's so they can trace you forever and I believe that it is zombie juice which will turn everyone into government compliant zombies. I betcha I am right about this conspiracy theory. Nuff said.

Nothing else new. I took the last few days off yet again from training and realize that we only have 35 days to go on Sunday. I will for sure get a long run in this weekend, probably 15 miles, and then up to 20 the next two weeks and then taper into the race. My enthusiasm seems to be on and off and just spending the time with the family in the evenings and getting a little extra sleep in the mornings seems to brighten my spirit.

Tomorrow as far as I can see is just Survivor night and CSI so it will be quiet before everything breaks lose for the Halloween weekend.

Monday Evening Mismash

So we managed to survive the weekend. At small groups on Friday night I shard that if things are really busy (on the weekend) and not planned it causes me stress but if everything is well planned there is nothing to worry about. That is why I like Monday's, routine.

Saturday Simon and I were up early to get to his 8am soccer game. This wasn't the game for Susan to miss as Simon scored 3 that morning, his best day at soccer yet. Following that we made it home, picked up the girls and went and picked the new car up. On the way to soccer it was pouring rain but then after soccer it snowed for a few hours. It did not last long as it is all gone as of today.

Susan had her Youth Juice meeting at 10am and then made it home in time for lunch at 1:40pm. I hung out with the family for a few hours but Bingo was calling at 4:45pm. As the snow had evaporated it was time to get out the Porsche for probably close to the last weekend of the season. I haven't had to volunteer on a Saturday night for bingo yet but the odd thing (or more like predictable) was that the same clients who were there for my Sunday afternoon bingo a month ago were there that night.

Susan said that I did not have to run early in the morning on Sunday so I got to sleep in. We went to church for 11am and then I left them there and went home while Susan and the kids went to Oma's for lunch. I could only muster up a 15 mile run, still not feeling fantastic from my marathon 13 days earlier, but that will come. I jumped back into the import and headed off to meet the family for supper and Amazing Race, which by the way, my team was eliminated as the female on the team was wimpier than Simon was when he was 5 years old to go on the Tower of Terror (which he did).

Today I dropped of the loaner car during lunch and then Susan and the kids picked me up at 4pm. Tonight Simon had soccer practice as well as Wednesday night after Music lessons from 6 to 6:30. Tomorrow night is Kamden Dancing .

Back to the full week workouts beginning tomorrow morning.

Here is the new ride (just for Cam) but it is Silver. Susan and I discussed that for some odd reason we always get silver, except for the minivan. I thought it would be best to keep our imports from Korea as it is our Kia Rio5.

New Ride

Last night as the work day was closing Susan called up and said we were going car shopping. Everyone who knows me well knows that when things "happen" I start rubbing my head for some odd reason. I guess it's just my way of stress containment. I was explaining my predicament to the CFO and he just laughed and gave me some shopping tips.

By end of the night last night Susan and I enjoyed some crappy service at Boston Pizza to discuss our new vehicular acquisition. We were shopping for something compact and economical and were not trying to replace the Porsche with a winter Clydesdale or anything. I won't let the cat out of the bag until tomorrow when we pick it up at 10am.

The insurance company called and said that they were giving us $1,695.75 for the old car which we will put against the new one. The total repair value would have been $3,865 so of course they made the decision to write it off. To top it off someone stole my license plate off my old car whilst it was sitting outside the auto body establishment.

Tomorrow Simon and I have a soccer game at 8am, then pick the car up at 10am, Susan has a meeting at 11am, then Susan has to run 20 miles in the afternoon while I am off to bingo at 4:45 to 10pm. It is good scheduled day so no stress at all (except paying for the new car). Sunday I have a 20 mile run in the AM and church at 11am.

Since the Okanagan Marathon I have only logged 22.5 miles in 12 days. I think I have put on 3-4 pounds too. Tomorrow will be busy day so I will begin my 6 weeks into Vegas on Sunday.

Write Off

Nothing else new. The insurance company called today and told me that the Hyundai was a write-off and was quite happy that I did not get injured in that thing as it was a "mess". I was happy too. I am sure he was just happy so they did not have to pay an injury claim.

So now I am actively on the hunt for a new ride. It was not really in the budget to buy a car at this point in time so it won't be new this time so I will need to find something second hand with low km's and good on fuel. The adjuster has yet to call so I don't know how much insurance $ I will get but I presume not an awful lot. I guess it will be between the 5 to 10k range for a new purchase. Susan is off to Canmore tomorrow night for her school retreat and I will drop the kids off at her Mom and Dad's (after music lessons at 6-6:30pm) and Susan will pick them up on Friday evening. I have yet another Bingo to work this coming Saturday for this fiscal indoor soccer season. I am getting kind of sick of these things. I also signed up for the kids school Casino in Feb 8/9 of next year.

Yippee, I love volunteering........ .......
